Built and maintained by the ColdProxy engineering team. Your proxy list is tested in the browser and never stored on our servers.

How to Use the Proxy Checker

1

Enter Proxies

Paste your proxy list in IP:PORT format, one proxy per line. Supports authentication format too.

2

Start Testing

Click "Begin Test" to start checking. Our tool tests up to 10 proxies concurrently for faster results.

3

View Results

See real-time results with detailed information including IP, country, city, and protocol version.

What Our Proxy Checker Reveals

Each test gives you detailed information about your proxy server's capabilities and current performance.

Connection Status

Confirms whether the proxy responds to requests. A working proxy returns data from the target server. A failed status usually means the proxy is offline, blocked, or misconfigured.

Protocol Type

Automatically identifies whether the proxy runs HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4, or SOCKS5. You do not need to specify the protocol beforehand.

Exit IP Address

Shows the IP address that the destination server sees when your request arrives through the proxy. Use this to verify your real IP is hidden.

Geographic Location

Reports the country and city where the proxy exit IP is located. Useful for confirming geo-targeting accuracy before running location-dependent tasks.

Response Details

Provides connection data for working proxies and error descriptions for failed ones. Helps you quickly diagnose issues or spot unreliable proxies.

Want to verify your IP is properly masked? Check your visible address with our IP Checker tool, or test IPv6 support with our IPv6 Checker.

Supported Proxy Protocols

The checker works with all four major proxy protocols. Each one handles traffic differently, so pick the right type for your task.

HTTP

The standard web traffic protocol. Fast and compatible with most scraping tools and browsers. No encryption, so it is best for non-sensitive tasks where speed matters most.

HTTPS

Encrypted version of HTTP. Routes traffic through a secure tunnel between you and the proxy. Required for sites that enforce SSL and for transferring sensitive data.

SOCKS4

A low-level protocol that forwards any TCP traffic, not just web requests. Faster for specialized applications but does not support authentication or UDP.

SOCKS5

The most flexible protocol. Supports username/password authentication, UDP traffic, and IPv6 addresses. Works with any application type, not just web browsers.

Proxy Anonymity Levels Explained

Not all proxies hide you equally. Proxy anonymity falls into three tiers. Knowing which tier you have tells you whether a target site can detect the proxy.

Tier 1

Elite (High-Anonymity)

Hides your real IP and removes all headers that signal a proxy is in use. The destination server sees a normal direct connection. Best for scraping, ad verification, sneaker bots, and any task where detection equals a ban.

  • Real IP hidden
  • No Via or X-Forwarded-For headers
  • Proxy use undetectable
Tier 2

Anonymous

Hides your real IP but sets headers like Via that tell the destination a proxy is in the path. Your identity is protected, but sites that block proxy traffic will still refuse the connection.

  • Real IP hidden
  • Proxy use visible in headers
  • Blocked by anti-proxy filters
Tier 3

Transparent

Passes your real IP through in the X-Forwarded-For header. Offers no privacy. Mostly used for caching on corporate networks, not for scraping or automation.

  • Real IP visible
  • Proxy use visible
  • Not suitable for privacy

When You Need a Proxy Checker

Testing proxies before production saves hours of debugging. Here are the cases where running a quick bulk check matters most.

Web Scraping at Scale

Dead or slow proxies break scraping jobs mid-run. Validate your whole list first, then deploy only the working ones. Read our guide on proxies for web scraping.

Price Monitoring and Ad Verification

Location accuracy matters when you verify local pricing or check geo-targeted ads. Confirm the exit country before you run the job. See price monitoring proxies.

Multi-Account Management

Each account needs a stable, unique IP. Test every proxy and drop the ones that share exit nodes. Learn more about multi-accounting proxies.

Sneaker Bots and Drops

When a drop goes live, a dead proxy costs you the checkout. Pre-test hundreds of proxies in minutes and keep only the fast, working ones. SOCKS5 is preferred here.

Social Media Automation

Stable residential IPs reduce account flags. Validate proxy health before rotating. See how social media proxies fit your workflow.

SEO and SERP Tracking

Track rankings from specific cities without triggering CAPTCHA. The checker confirms each proxy exits from the city you need. Compare proxy providers for the best SEO setup.

Why Use ColdProxy's Proxy Checker?

Our advanced proxy checker goes beyond basic connectivity tests. We evaluate multiple performance factors to give you comprehensive insights into each proxy's capabilities.

Proxy Checker: Frequently Asked Questions

The tool sends a test request through each proxy server you submit. It measures connection speed, identifies the exit IP address, detects the protocol type (HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4, or SOCKS5), and retrieves geolocation data including country and city. Results appear in real-time as each proxy finishes testing.

This tool supports four proxy protocols: HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4, and SOCKS5. The checker automatically detects which protocol your proxy uses during the test.

Yes. Enter authenticated proxies in IP:PORT:USERNAME:PASSWORD format, one per line. The checker sends your credentials with the test request and reports whether authentication succeeded.

You can paste as many proxies as you need. The tool tests up to 10 proxies at the same time, so large lists finish faster than sequential testing. There is no daily limit on the number of tests.

A failed result means the proxy did not respond within the timeout window. Common causes include expired proxies, wrong credentials, blocked ports, or the proxy server being temporarily offline. Try testing again after a few minutes if you suspect a temporary issue.

Yes. The proxy checker is completely free with no registration, no daily limits, and no feature restrictions. It runs in your browser with no software to install.

Each result shows the connection status (working or failed), the detected protocol, the exit IP address, and the geographic location including country and city. This helps you evaluate proxy quality before using it in your workflow.

The results reflect real-time proxy performance at the moment of testing. Speed and availability can change depending on the proxy server load and network conditions. For a more complete picture, test proxies at different times of day.

An elite proxy (also called a high-anonymity proxy) hides your real IP and does not reveal that a proxy is being used at all. An anonymous proxy hides your real IP but sets headers that tell the destination server a proxy is in use. A transparent proxy passes your real IP through in the X-Forwarded-For header, providing no anonymity. For scraping, ad verification, and privacy-sensitive tasks, always use elite proxies.

The checker confirms that your proxy is working, identifies the exit IP address, and reports whether the connection succeeded. To measure strict anonymity tiers (elite, anonymous, transparent), compare the exit IP against your real IP using our IP Address Checker in a second tab. If they differ and no forwarding headers are visible, the proxy is anonymous or elite.

No. The tool runs in your browser and sends each proxy to our test endpoint only to verify connectivity. We do not log or store proxy credentials, IP addresses, or test results. Close the tab and all data is gone.
